On December 10-11, 2009, the 2009 Annual Conference and Innovative Application Seminar on Pavement and Compaction Machinery Industry was grandly held at the Sentosa Hotel in Wuhan, Hubei. This annual conference was hosted by the Pavement and Compaction Machinery Branch of the China Construction Machinery Industry Association and co organized by the Road Construction Machinery Professional Committee of the Hubei Highway Society. Nearly 90 representatives from 61 units including compaction machinery, pavement machinery manufacturing and supporting enterprises, highway construction management and construction units, relevant research institutes, and industry media from all over the country attended this annual conference. Su Zimeng, Secretary General of China Construction Machinery Industry Association, Xin Xiuming, Assistant President and Minister of Engineering Department of China International Contractors Association, Chen Biao, Deputy Director of Hubei Provincial Highway Management Bureau, Hou Liguo, Director of Maintenance Department of Zhejiang Provincial Highway Management Bureau, and major leaders of various backbone enterprises in the pavement and compaction machinery industry, such as XCMG, Luojian, Liugong, Sanming, Shantui, and Volvo, attended the meeting. The meeting had an in-depth exchange of views on the development situation of the industry. It was believed that this year, driven by national investment, the road and compaction machinery industry has achieved significant growth, which has made every enterprise in the industry feel happy and encouraged. However, the hidden problems under prosperity should not be ignored. The attending representatives unanimously agreed with the view put forward by the Secretariat of the Association to "cautiously and soberly view the super rapid development of the market this year".
The conference theme revolves around two aspects: on the one hand, the exchange and discussion of the current industry market situation and future development trends; On the one hand, it is about the application innovation of compaction machinery and road machinery.
The conference officially opened on December 10th, with Wu Jingwu, the chairman of the branch, delivering an opening speech. Chen Biao, the deputy director of the Hubei Provincial Highway Management Bureau and the deputy chairman of the Hubei Highway Society Road Machinery Branch, delivered a speech on behalf of the co organizers, welcoming the attending representatives and introducing the development status of highway construction in Hubei Province, as well as the practical application of new technologies, processes, and equipment in highway construction and maintenance in the Hubei Provincial Highway Construction System.
Su Zimeng, Secretary General of the China Construction Machinery Industry Association, gave a report titled "Analysis of the Situation of China's Construction Machinery Industry". The report points out that the sales revenue of China's construction machinery industry increased by 13% year-on-year in the first 10 months of 2009, and it is expected that the annual sales revenue will increase by more than 12% year-on-year, reaching about 310 billion yuan; Expected annual exports are about 7.7 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of about 40%; Su Zimeng also analyzed the relevant investment hotspots and policies that affected the development of the construction machinery industry in 2010 from a macro perspective both domestically and internationally.
The chairman of the branch, Wu Jingwu, gave a report titled "Seizing the Opportunity, Steadily and Continuously Developing", summarizing the current situation and competitive situation of the industry market. Since the beginning of this year, the country has taken measures to stimulate the economy, driving the construction of major infrastructure such as highways, railways, and airports in China, providing huge business opportunities for our road and compaction machinery industry; At the same time, the industry situation will continue to improve next year. Chairman Wu suggests that enterprises seize the current favorable opportunity to develop and strengthen their brands; At the same time, Chairman Wu also proposed that industry enterprises must strive to improve product reliability, explore international markets, pay attention to improving profitability, prevent vicious competition, and promote the steady and sustainable development of the road and compaction machinery industry.
Regarding the current industry market situation and future development trends, companies such as XCMG, Luojian, and Volvo delivered speeches at the conference.
On behalf of the Secretariat, Luo Zehua, Deputy Secretary General of the Road and Compaction Machinery Branch and Editor in Chief of the Construction Machinery Technology and Management magazine, delivered a report entitled "Analysis of the Development of China's Road and Compaction Machinery Industry". Secretary General Luo's report focuses on analyzing the development situation of China's road and compaction machinery market in 2009. From January to November 2009, a total of 14785 road rollers were sold, a year-on-year increase of 51.5%! Among them, 2632 units were exported, a year-on-year decrease of 29.2%. Excluding the drag from the export market, the domestic market for road rollers increased by 101%! As of November, a total of 1489 asphalt pavers were sold, a year-on-year increase of 34%. Among them, 107 were exported, a year-on-year decrease of 48.6%. Domestic market sales increased by 53.2%! The sales of road milling machines reached 155 units, a year-on-year increase of 29.2%; It can be seen that in 2009, the sales of road rollers, asphalt pavers, and road milling machines all broke historical records, while the world economic crisis still has a significant negative impact on exports. Secretary General Luo suggested that in the current rare situation of significant growth in history, we should maintain a cautious and clear attitude, and rationally view the market characteristics of compaction machinery and road machinery as specialized equipment.
The attending representatives unanimously agreed that the content of this annual meeting is rich and targeted, especially in the context of drastic changes in the domestic and international economic environment and complex market situations. It has important reference and guiding significance for the development and decision-making of enterprises in the road and compaction machinery industry. It provides a good opportunity for the attending enterprise representatives to understand the development situation of the industry and seize future development opportunities.
