At present, attention should be paid to the development of fully hydraulic vibration rollers in China

After decades of development, China's fully hydraulic vibration rollers have established a solid foundation. The main manufacturers of road rollers have formed a series of fully hydraulic vibration roller products, and their technical level has also approached the world's advanced level. In 2011, XCMG Technology's annual sales of fully hydraulic vibration rollers exceeded 1000 units, and the annual sales of fully hydraulic vibration rollers from Sany Heavy Industry, Xiagong Sanzhong, Liugong Road, Luoyang Lutong, and Kotai Heavy Industry also reached over 300-600 units. Some roller manufacturers in our country are striving to develop fully hydraulic vibration roller products.
At present, there are two points worth noting in the development of fully hydraulic vibration rollers in China:
1, To correctly position the development of fully hydraulic vibration roller products
Fully hydraulic vibratory rollers can be divided into two categories based on their driving methods: single drive and double drive. The high-performance fully hydraulic vibratory roller we refer to is a dual drive fully hydraulic vibratory roller, rather than a single drive fully hydraulic vibratory roller. Because the progressiveness of the technical performance of the full hydraulic vibratory roller mainly stems from its hydraulic dual drive mode. Only the distribution mass of the vibrating wheels of a dual drive fully hydraulic vibrating roller can be larger than that of a mechanical vibrating roller, and its compaction capacity is generally about 2 tons larger than that of a mechanical vibrating roller of the same tonnage. The climbing ability, driving ability, and passability are greatly improved compared to mechanical vibration rollers.
Compared with mechanical vibration rollers, hydraulic single drive vibration rollers have similar performance in addition to continuously variable speed and easy and flexible operation. The maximum climbing ability and passability are not as good as mechanical vibration rollers. Because when climbing the maximum slope, the relief valve in the drive system of a hydraulic single drive vibratory roller usually opens before the engine power reaches its maximum. The driving system of a mechanical vibration roller does not have an overflow valve, and the engine power can be maximized, even to the point of engine shutdown. Moreover, the efficiency of mechanical transmission is higher than that of hydraulic transmission.
The difference in technical performance between dual drive fully hydraulic wheel vibratory rollers and single drive fully hydraulic wheel vibratory rollers may not be significant for vibratory rollers weighing less than 14 tons, but the larger the tonnage of the vibratory roller, the more significant the difference. Therefore, when developing full hydraulic vibratory roller products, we should vigorously develop dual drive full hydraulic vibratory rollers with advanced technical performance, rather than single drive hydraulic vibratory rollers with similar performance to mechanical vibratory rollers, to avoid misleading users and causing users to misunderstand the advanced performance of full hydraulic vibratory rollers.
2, Do not continue to blindly develop towards large tonnage with fully hydraulic vibration rollers
On the one hand, many users believe that the greater the weight of the vibrating roller, the better its compaction capacity and effect will be.
On the other hand, the larger the weight of vibration compaction, the higher the selling price. In order to meet the needs of users and compete, roller manufacturers in China are constantly promoting the development of large tonnage vibration rollers. China's single drum vibratory rollers have grown from 18 tons, 20 tons, 22 tons, 25 tons, 27 tons, and 32 tons to 36 tons, and the double drum vibratory rollers have also grown from 12 tons and 13 tons to 16 tons.
Some industrialized countries in the United States and Europe had basically completed the construction of their highway network at the beginning of the last century. At that time, they used single drum vibratory rollers of no more than 20 tons and double drum vibratory rollers of no more than 12 tons. But the quality of the highways they built is not inferior to that of our country's highways. Before entering the Chinese market, world-renowned roller manufacturing companies did not produce more than 20 tons of single drum vibrating roller products or more than 12 tons of double drum vibrating roller products. It can be seen that our existing vibration roller products should have a tonnage that can fully meet the construction requirements. It is understandable that we should develop some large tonnage vibrating roller products appropriately, but we cannot blindly develop them endlessly. Because the larger the weight of the vibrating roller, the greater the resource and energy consumption, and the higher the construction cost. Especially for the double steel drum vibrating roller, its weight is too large, which not only cannot improve the compaction quality, but may also crush the aggregate and reduce the construction quality. There are many factors that affect the compaction capacity and effectiveness of a vibrating roller. In addition to the weight of the roller, the reasonable matching of vibration parameters, vibration mode, and working speed all have a significant impact. We can improve the compaction capacity and compaction effect of vibratory compaction from other aspects. For example, there are currently construction testing results proving that the compaction capacity and compaction effect of a 20 ton fully hydraulic single steel wheel vertical vibration roller are better than those of a 32 ton mechanical single steel wheel vibration roller. We should not rely solely on increasing the weight of vibration rollers and continue to blindly develop large tonnage vibration rollers to improve their compaction capacity and effectiveness.
At present, the biggest obstacle to the development of fully hydraulic vibration rollers in China is still that hydraulic components cannot be self-sufficient and can only rely on imports, with relatively high costs. However, with the development of China's construction machinery industry, this situation is gradually changing. The relevant departments of the country attach great importance to the development of hydraulic components in China. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has formulated the "Twelfth Five Year Plan" for the development of the "Three Basics" industry and the "Implementation Plan for the Revitalization of the Mechanical Basic Parts Industry", both of which prioritize the development of high-pressure hydraulic components. In October 2011, the "Engineering Machinery Hydraulic Collaborative Work Platform" was established by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China Construction Machinery Industry Association, China Hydraulic and Pneumatic Seal Industry Association, and Tianjin Engineering Machinery Research Institute. In August of this year, Zhongchuan Hydraulic Co., Ltd., one of the members of the "Engineering Machinery Hydraulic Collaborative Work Platform", successfully passed the national level technical appraisal of two hydraulic axial piston pumps, one hydraulic rotary motor, and one hydraulic main valve for high-end hydraulic new products. These products have filled the domestic gap and marked the beginning of China's hydraulic industry's move towards mastering core technologies and conducting independent innovation. We believe that the problem of self-sufficiency in hydraulic components in our country can be solved, and our country's fully hydraulic vibration rollers will also develop and become more popular faster. Our dream of becoming a strong country in compaction machinery will also be realized.
