At present, internationally renowned roller manufacturers include BMW AG from Germany, Dynapac from Sweden, Ingersoll Rand from the United States, Hummer from Germany, Amway from Switzerland, Sakai from Japan, Caterpillar from the United States, and Webb Max from Germany. In addition, Germany's Lawsenhausen and the United States' Dreiser have also produced a large number of road rollers.
1. BOMAG
The company was founded in 1957 and initially designed a hand-held double steel wheel roller. It remains the largest company in the world's compaction machinery industry, accounting for approximately 30% of the world's roller market share. It is renowned worldwide for its product quality and technological innovation. In May 2001, BMW was acquired by the American industrial conglomerate SPX, and then sold to the private company Fayat in January 2005. In 1987, Luoyang Construction Machinery Factory introduced its BW217D single steel wheel and BW141AD double steel wheel vibration roller technology.
In 2002, BMW Ge and its Chinese general agent (BMW Machinery Co., Ltd.) jointly established the first production factory - BMW Ge (Shanghai). In February 2007, a new factory, BMW Ge (China), was established in Fengxian District, Shanghai, China. The factory covers an area of 3.4 hectares and has a factory area of approximately 10000 square meters. It has now become a manufacturing base for North America and Australia; And BMW AG (Shanghai) has transformed into a trading company.
2. DYNAPAC
Dana Parker was founded in 1934 and has over 70 years of experience in the field of compaction and paving. It is a leader in the compaction and paving industry and a pioneer in vibration theory, enjoying a high reputation internationally. Its compaction products include seven major categories, including single steel drum vibration rollers, double steel drum vibration rollers, and combination rollers, with a total of more than 80 models, accounting for approximately 18% of the world roller market share. In 1988, Dana Pak established the International Compaction and Paving Technology Center in Karlskrona, Sweden, and its Combine&Pavbase software became a must-have for many contractors around the world.
In 2000, it established Dana Pak (China) Compaction and Paving Equipment Co., Ltd. in Wuqing, Tianjin, China. It produces compaction equipment, asphalt concrete pavers, and small mechanical equipment for concrete surface leveling. Its compaction equipment is mainly aimed at the domestic market and has been exported in small quantities since 2004.
3. Ingersoll Rand
Ingersoll Rand's roller production factory was established in the 1930s, and its products include single wheel vibration rollers, double wheel vibration rollers, tire rollers, etc.
Ingersoll Rand established a joint venture factory in Wuxi, Jiangsu, China in 1997 to produce road rollers and sell them to the Southeast Asian market. In March 2007, Volvo acquired Ingersoll Rand's road construction business. At present, Volvo (China) Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. produces three types of single drum vibration rollers with a weight of 10-25 tons and three types of double drum vibration rollers with a weight of 11-13 tons. The coating has also changed from Ingersoll Rand's black and white coating to Volvo's yellow and black coating.
4. Hummer (HAMM)
Hummer was founded in 1878 and has nearly 450 workers worldwide. It is currently the fourth largest manufacturer of compaction equipment in the world, with a product range of self-propelled soil and asphalt compaction equipment ranging from 1.5 tons to 26 tons. In 2005, the production reached nearly 4000 units (sales revenue of 160 million euros); In August 1999, it was acquired by Wirtgen, which specializes in producing road maintenance and garbage equipment.
Wittgen established a joint venture factory in Langfang, Hebei, China in 2004, assembling Hummer rollers and Fogler pavers while providing customer service. The key product of the roller is the double steel drum vibration roller. Currently, only one 14 ton double steel drum vibration roller and one 20 ton single steel drum roller are assembled for sale in the Chinese market.
5. Ammann
Anmai has been producing motorized rollers since 1911. The double drum vibratory roller with a capacity of 4 tons or less is produced at the European headquarters of Langenthal in Switzerland. The large tonnage double drum vibratory roller and single drum vibratory roller were transferred from Switzerland to the Stavostroj factory in Czechoslovakia for production in October 2005. The ditch roller is produced at the Rammax subsidiary in Metzingen, Germany.
6. Sakai
Sakai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. was founded in 1918 and began producing road rollers in 1929. With over 80 years of production experience, it is the largest and most historical professional manufacturer of road construction and maintenance equipment in Japan. Sakai Heavy Industries has successively established overseas manufacturing factories in Atlanta, Indonesia, and Shanghai, China. Its main products include compaction equipment such as vibration rollers, static rollers, and small hand-held compaction equipment, as well as various road maintenance machinery such as milling machines, small pavers, and road cooling and regeneration machines.
7. CATERPLLAR
Caterpillar's Road Machinery Plant (CCPI) was established in 1985, with four factories mainly producing road rollers, cold milling machines, mixers, and road surface regenerators. There are four main types of rollers: landfill compactors, CS and CP series (smooth and convex wheel) single steel wheel vibration rollers, CB series double steel wheel vibration rollers, and PS series tire rollers.
Caterpillar established a wholly-owned factory in Xuzhou, Jiangsu, China in 2002. Before 2003, a small number of single steel drum vibration rollers were produced in Xuzhou, but production was stopped between 2004 and 2006; In 2006, the production of road rollers was resumed, with a focus on developing double steel wheel products, but the output has remained relatively low.
