Su Zimeng, President of the China Construction Machinery Industry Association, recently stated at the press conference of the China (Beijing) International Construction Machinery, Building Materials Machinery, and Mining Machinery Exhibition (BICES 2025) that since 2025, the level of advanced industrial foundation and modernization of the industrial chain in China's construction machinery industry has continued to improve, the internationalization process has continued to accelerate, and high-quality development has been solidly promoted.
Su Zimeng stated that according to the association's statistics, the overall sales volume of the twelve major categories of construction machinery products is stabilizing and improving. From January to April, 7 out of 12 major products achieved positive growth in internal sales, among which the ones with significant increases were graders, excavators, loaders, pavers, aerial work vehicles, and industrial vehicles.
Su Zimeng mentioned that the export value of the construction machinery industry continues to grow on the basis of a relatively high base in previous years. According to customs data, the import and export trade volume of construction machinery in China from January to April 2025 was 18.947 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 8.51%. Among them, the import amount was 877 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 0.86%; The export amount was 18.07 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 9.01%.
The transformation of the industry towards high-end, intelligent, and green continues to accelerate, and fruitful results have been achieved, "said Su Zimeng. In terms of high-end development, a number of large and ultra large wheeled cranes and crawler cranes, ultra large diameter shield machines, over 10000 ton tower cranes, large excavators, bulldozers, loaders, etc. have been successfully developed and participated in major domestic and foreign engineering construction, playing a key role. In terms of intelligence, some key core components are gradually achieving autonomous controllability; Some fields have implemented higher levels of intelligent manufacturing and intelligent product applications; Due to the continuous promotion of digital construction in the industrial chain, the efficient collaboration capabilities of some enterprises in technology, research and development, production, management, logistics, etc. have been further enhanced. In terms of greening, electric construction machinery represented by electric loaders, forklifts, and lifting work platforms have seen significant growth; Some industry enterprises have made continuous progress in the research, development, manufacturing, and application of new energy engineering machinery such as hydrogen energy, methanol, and hybrid power.
Looking ahead to the future, Su Zimeng predicts that the Chinese construction machinery industry will continue to show a stable and progressive development trend throughout 2025, with major economic indicators showing steady growth and foreign trade maintaining basic stability.
